TrainFX has been awarded a major contract by First Great Western for the provision of their real-time passenger information system for the Angel owned/First Great Western operated Class 165 and 166 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) fleets.
The Derby-based Rail Technology company will be responsible for the provision of a full turnkey service including: system design and supply of the TrainFX Passenger Information, Communication and Security system (PICS) – Passenger Information (pi) module and installation on 40 x 2-car and 48 x 3-car Class 165 and 63 x 3-car Class 166 DMU’s.
The Turnkey service will be undertaken during 2010 at the First Great Western Train Depot in Reading to ensure minimum disruption to the operational service of the fleets.
TrainFX Managing Director Phil Campbell said: “This is an important Contract success for TrainFX and one which allows us to demonstrate our new passenger information system and our ability to deliver one of our rail technology systems as a turnkey service at the running depot, when this is required”.
