Improving Crew and passenger communications, TrainFX has developed a new Train Crew Communication Controller for the UK Rail sector. The system is to be fitted during 2011 and will provide a complete crew communication solution, incorporating PA and Cab to Cab functionality and enhancements such as an auto-announcer and driver triggered messages.

 

The Cab amplifier is a form fit and function replacement for the existing Ripper amplifier providing a simple plug and play replacement for the current obsolete system.

 

The Cab amplifier can be fitted with an identical connector as the existing Ripper amplifier (MIL-STD 5015 Size 22-14 Shell) requiring no modifications to the wiring of the vehicle.

 

The Amplifier provides for PA and Cab to Cab functionality through keypad buttons with visual indication provided on the textual display. The display blanks after 15 seconds of inactivity to prevent distraction of the driver.

 

Auto-announcement functions such as ‘Welcome aboard this service, Safety information is provided...’ or ‘Please mind the gap...’ may be triggered by door enable signals providing for consistent controlled information delivery to passengers.

 

The keypad may also be used by the driver to trigger driver automated announcements such as train evacuation or delay information.

 

The Cab amplifier has been designed for integration with GSMR and can provide the facility for the handset to be remotely located on a panel with the GSMR handset as required by the FCC GSMR integration proposal. As an option we could also offer the full integration of GSMR to a single handset if this is required.

 

The Cab amplifier has growth potential for Advanced Passenger Information as it contains the core technology of the TrainFX Advanced Passenger Information System controller allowing a cost effective and efficient migration path to passenger information if there is a future requirement.

 

The Cab amplifier can interface directly with the existing saloon amplifiers providing a cost effective migration solution.

 

The TrainFX TCCS is far more than just a Ripper Replacement system, it is a highly reliable high quality replacement component that will enhance and improve the reliability by replacing an overhauled limited capability legacy product with a modern warranted unit.

 

One of the major benefits of the TrainFX Ripper Replacement System is its design, which allows TrainFX to provide enhancements to the system, to meet the budget of the Train Operator.
