Near Real Time (NRT) multimedia content such as news updates, financial markets etc. is delivered throughout the operating day from the Media Control Centre (MCC) across the backhaul network to key stations along the commuter route. This NRT content is automatically downloaded to the rail vehicles when they are in range of the wireless station transceivers.

 

Near Real time messaging of passenger information is delivered throughout the operating day from the Train Operating Company (TOC) either via a cellular mobile telecommunications network or across the backhaul dependent on the timeliness of the message information.

 

The station based systems consist of a Station Media Controller (SMC) which receives and stores content downloaded from the MCC via the backhaul network.

 

The carriage based system consists of up to 6 video units per carriage with distributed audio installed in the passenger saloon. Each unit is optimized for a specific area of the rail vehicle providing the passenger with audio and visual feeds of the content.
